Elaine Brown

Elaine D. Brown, 98, of Berkeley Township, N.J., passed away at home on December 4, 2021. Elaine was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1923. She lived with her family in Chicago, Buffalo and Long Island, New York before returning to Chicago in 1938. After graduating from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, she moved to California where she married William H. Brown in 1944. After the war, she and William moved to Union, New Jersey and then Middletown, New Jersey where they lived until her husband’s retirement at which time they moved to Toms River in 1980. They traveled extensively with their travel trailer until William’s death in 2000. Elaine then began volunteering at Community Hospital where she worked until 2020. She was also very active in her church and wrote articles for several local publications.

Elaine was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey W. Brown in 1996. She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline E. Cochran, of Long Branch, New Jersey and Jeannie Krumeich and husband John, of Manchester, New Jersey, as well as five grandchildren, Kris Brown of California; Kara Norat of Colorado, Erin Parker of Manchester, NJ, Chloe Garcia of Forked River, NJ and Kelsey Krumeich of Manchester, NJ as well as 4 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pinelands Reformed Church, 898 Route 37, Toms River, New Jersey. A small memorial service will be held at a future date .
