Douglas Pallen, 44, passed away on July 4th at Jersey Shore Hospital after a prolonged illness that involved the COVID virus, pneumonia and other complications. Douglas was born in Toms River and graduated from Toms River High School North where he was on the bowling team during his Jr. and Sr. years.
Doug was the devoted son of Jack and Gail Pallen. He also leaves three brothers, John, his wife Kristine and their three children, Rebecca, Alex and Kelsey; Andy, his wife Melinda and their two children, Cole and Brooke; and Michael, his wife Melissa and their four children, Olivia, Sophia, Chase and Finn.
Doug enjoyed golfing and fishing in Maine where he had a bass and pike displayed on the Long Pond Hall of Fame Board. He also played golf in Florida and was an avid Texas Hold Em card player in the men's club. Doug was a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Church for many years.
Doug’s favorite hobby was collecting, trading and selling sport's cards. His collection numbered in the thousands and he was very proud of it. He loved the Yankees and attended many games at Yankee Stadium, along with the New York Jets.
He will be remembered as a courageous young man who never let his disabilities stand in the way of living a full life and who impacted the lives of many people in the most positive manner.
Our family would like to thank the many people for their prayers and concern during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Hospital in Doug's name are most appreciated.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10:30am at Saint Joseph RC Church, Toms River.
