Claire M. Rieger

Born in Livingston in 1936, the daughter of the late Geraldine and Charles Walsh, MD, Claire has resided in Toms River since 1996, and had formerly lived in Brick and Lincroft.

She was a graduate of Immaculata College in King of Prussia, PA and worked for several years at Bell Labs and Bellcore in Piscataway in the Quality Assurance Department.

Claire was a member of Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her loving family, husband Emil “Dick” Rieger, her three children; daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Gary Eberle of Milford, daughter Deborah Lorenc of Tinton Falls, son and daughter-in-law William and Fran Lynch of Hazlet. Her spouse’s four children, Beth and Rob Arena of Middletown, Sue and Kevin Dolan of Southbury, CT, Richard and Adrian Rieger of Red Bank, and Michael and Christine Rieger of Shrewsbury, her brother and sister-in-law Donald and Gretchen Walsh of Morristown, and twelve grandchildren.

The viewing will be at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home at 26 Mule Road, Toms River on Thursday, January 31 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 1 at 9:30 am at St Joseph Church, 509 Hooper Avenue, Toms River.

Burial will be 2:30 pm Friday at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the St Joseph Roman Catholic Church Food Pantry, 509 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753.
