Bernice Elaine Sooy

Born in Philadelphia, she resided in Spotswood before settling in the Crestwood Village II community of Whiting about 20 years ago.

Prior to retiring, she worked in the warehouse of F. Schumacher & Co. in Cranbury for 15 years, where she worked hard and was always on her feet. Elaine liked to gamble and enjoyed going to the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City and doing scratch offs. She also loved her cats, Peaches and Patches, and treated them like family. Elaine enjoyed trips to the beach with her daughter. An avid Eagles and Phillies fan, she never missed watching a game. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be deeply missed.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Denise Sooy Donnelly in 2010; her son-in-law, Joseph Donnelly in 2019; and her brother, Howard Ogden in 2016.

Surviving are her granddaughters: Heather Hudak, Holly Hudak, and Melissa Donnelly; her great-grandchildren: Ryelin and Zayden; and her nieces: Nancy, Suzy, and Terry.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 2-6PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ.
