Born on December 20, 1932 in Loup City, Nebraska, to Peter J. and Rose Ann Kowalski (nee Shotkoski), Ann was a 1954 graduate of University of Nebraska with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology. She was an educator for 29 years, teaching 1st grade at Pine Beach, Walnut St., Cedar Grove and East Dover Elementary schools in the Toms River School System before retiring in 1989. In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her lawn, sewing and quilting.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 56 years, Alan D. Kirby of Toms River; her son Alan Jr. & his wife, Patricia of Williams Twp, PA; her daughter, Susan & her husband, David Friedman of Bridgewater, NJ; and her daughter, Diane & her husband, Al Jacoutot of Wimbledon, England. She will be greatly missed by her four grandchildren – Jonathan & Rachel Friedman, and Michael & Matthew Jacoutot. Ann is also survived by her three siblings- John (Jack) Kowalski and his wife, Barbara of Gardnerville, NV; James (Jim) Kowalski & his wife ,Rita of Loup City, NE, and her sister, Sharon Petrytus & her husband Robert, of Scottsdale, AZ.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 6th from 4:30-7:30 p.m. with the service at 6:30 p.m. at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. in Toms River.
