Richard Lopez Mercado began his life journey on September 11, 1951, born in Phoenix, Arizona. At the age of 21, he acquired his Commercial Driver License and became an over the road truck driver. In March of 2019 he retired, after giving 47 years of hard work and dedication to the trucking industry.
His biggest personal passion was football. In 1960 when the Dallas Cowboys became the NFL’s first successful new team. He found the team he would support. In 1979 when they become known as “America’s Team”. That was the beginning of the “Star” gleaming in his eyes. He was a true Dallas Cowboys diehard fan.
Music was a big part of his soul. In good or bad times, he would turn on the music and drown himself within the lyrics. You could always hear him coming a mile way. Music blasting out of his lowrider Monte Carlo, his arm placed on the door, smoking a cigar, with a smile from ear to ear.
His journey concluded December 3, 2020 at the age of 69. He is survived by his brothers, wife, daughters, sons, sisters, and grandchildren. He was the “ROCK” in our family.
As we celebrate his life, let every heart be jovial!
