Joan Elizabeth Sillis Dalton died peacefully in her sleep the morning of 22 July 2020. Joan was born on 30 November 1940 in the small village of Harpley, Norfolk County, England. The daughter of a shepherd, she spent the early years of her life joyfully helping her father with the sheep. As she and her family traveled around rural Norfolk County she reveled in the small town farm lifestyle. She grew up a fighter, whether it was fighting for a turnip in the fields with her siblings or fighting to keep the sheep in line, she never gave up. Later in life she fought and won the fight with both small cell lung cancer and breast cancer. She fought liver cancer until the last day when she died peacefully and pain free with her husband at her side.
Joan was married to Ron Dalton Jr for 31 years. Joan and Ron met in England where he was stationed in the US Air Force. They travelled extensively through Europe and Mexico. Joan was a bit of a daredevil and loved sky diving. She also loved children and took care of many children from shortly after birth until they were grown. She had many different careers such as a Certified Nursing Assistant and a food court manager. She was active in her community as a volunteer Community Service Officer with the city of Avondale.
Besides her husband, Joan is survived by three sisters, Joyce Borley, Glenda Perkin and Mary Wilkinson. She is also survived by one brother Mike Sillis. She is also survived by countless nieces and nephews in both England and America. All of Joan’s siblings live in England.
