Dominga Acosta Hernandez, age 87, passed away peacefully January 11, 2021 of Congestive Heart Failure. She was born December 20, 1933 in Haciendita, Texas to Manuel and Arculana Acosta. She married the love of her life, Luis G. Hernandez, on June 14, 1954 who preceded her in death in February of 1999. 44 years of marriage.
Dominga is survived by her 8 children, 6 daughters and their husbands. Maria and David Sandoval, Romelia and Rudy Martinez, Juanita and Ruben Ortiz, Dora and George Benitez, Olivia and John Hernandez, and Yolanda and Joseph Sotelo. 2 sons Jose Luis Hernandez and Gabriel and Azzie Hernandez. Plus 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Lorenzo Acosta and 2 sisters, Ramona Perez and Lucia Stone, and her many nephews and nieces. All of whom she loved so much.
Dominga was a first-generation Jehovah’s Witness. She was baptized January 11, 1969, and was faithful servant of Jehovah for 52 years, until her death. In her better years, Dominga shared with others the Bible’s prophecies for a positive future here on the earth and her hope of the resurrection when she would see all her loved ones again. These promises from the Bible were very real to Dominga. One of her favorite scriptures was Revelation 21:3,4, where God promises to “wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
In her best of years, Dominga had many talents. She was a hard worker from the time that she was a teenager, working with her father picking cotton, to becoming a housewife, a very dedicated mother first and foremost. She loved to cook and in her best years she even offered catering services, which many enjoyed. That is how delicious her cooking was. She also made her daughters dresses and loved to crochet when she got the opportunity. We can keep going, but I think you get the picture. Mother, Mama, Nana, Granny, you will be forever missed. Until we are reunited again with you and Daddy on Paradise Earth along with all our loved ones.
Dominga’s services are private for her family only and the burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery if you care to join the family there. The address is 9925 W. Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ 85392, Saturday, January 23rd at 1:30 pm.
