Michael G. Null, age 63, of Toledo, Ohio died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born December 8, 1948 to Gordon and Irene (Tutak) Null in St. Louis, Missouri. Michael was a 1966 graduate of Start High School and served his country in the United States Navy from 1967-1971. From 1968-1971 he served on the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) completing two tours in the Tonkin Gulf Vietnam, and recaptured the USS Pueblo from North Korea. Michael completed the Carpenters Apprentice Program and was employed as a Carpenter from 1972-1984. He was elected as a Carpenter’s Union Local #248 Business Agent in 1984 where he proudly served for 19 years before retiring in 2003. Michael married Susan E. Duckett on March 28, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Michael will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan E. Null; son, Commander Gary Null, U.S. Navy Retired; stepsons, Michael and Danny Harper; grandchildren, Courtney, Andrew and Levi Null as well as Courtney and Nicholas Harper; brothers, Ronald, Thomas and Raymond Null and his sister, Karen Retzlaff.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-8 P.M. in Neville Funeral Home, Reynolds Corners Chapel, 5052 Dorr Street in Toledo (419-535-0951) where funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 with prayers at 9 A.M. and proceed to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Those planning an expression of sympathy may do so to either Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to the Lucas County Humane Society.
