Richard Allen Moore Jr.

Richard A. Moore, Jr, 54, passed away on January 9, 2022. Richard was born in Towson, MD, raised in Timonium, MD and graduated from Dulaney High School in 1985. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Economics and Finance from James Madison University in 1989 and was an active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon at JMU. Richard began his business career as an Underwriter for commercial surety at USF&G in Baltimore and then relocated to Chicago in 1993 to become an Underwriting Manager at Reliance Insurance in commercial and contract surety underwriting.

In 2000, he was hired by AON Risk Services in Chicago where he served as a Regional Director for 22 years until his death. The community of people that surrounded Richard on a day to day basis in the surety industry went beyond colleagues, more like best friends and family. The countless events, dinners, golf days, traveling, good and bad business deals, or regular phone calls about life will be greatly missed by many.

The loss of Richard will have a lasting impact. Friends and family alike knew him to be incredibly smart, weaving clever jokes and creating larger moments turned memories out of the mundane routines. He had a slew of idioms and sayings, which will echo in day to day thoughts and words. If Richard was in the room you knew by the sound of his laugh or the volume of his voice, always followed with a smile that filled his face. He wanted nothing but the best for everyone around him and supported not only his daughters, but also strived to help open doors for countless individuals at work, remaining close as a friend and mentor through the years. His kindness, generosity, knowledge, and wit will be deeply missed.

Richard will always be remembered for his love of sports, automobiles, travel, music, church and family. He was a swimmer at North Baltimore Aquatic Club and Springlake Swim Club, played varsity football at Dulaney High school, led the Brew Crew softball team, played club lacrosse at James Madison University, and became an avid golfer when he entered the business world. His love of baseball started at an early age with regular family trips to Orioles games at Memorial Stadium and vacations to see the Orioles play (including in Yankee Stadium) and a visit to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Richard was also a Cubs fan and was lucky enough to see the World Series in 2017 at Wrigley Field. He also enjoyed decades of his weekly football pool with his father. He was a devoted Chicago Bulls fan, being a season ticket holder for over ten years and enjoying many memorable games with his daughters and colleagues. His love of cars started with his first one, a Mustang, then the Cadillac years and more recently the fleet of BMW's.

In 54 years, Richard was blessed to travel to 40 out of 50 states, and 15 different international countries, with Italy and Australia being his favorites, and France his most recent trip. Music was an enduring passion for Richard, making music personally (played clarinet and was the lead singer in a band known for its rendition of Louie Louie) and listening regularly to his extensive music collection, and attending concerts every chance he had. Over the course of his life, Richard attended hundreds of rock concerts all around the world. Some of his favorite groups were Pearl Jam, The Doors, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Kiss, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Tom Petty, and Grateful Dead. Richard was a devout member of the St. Mary of Gostyn Parish in Downers Grove, Illinois. His greatest love, however, was for his family, especially as the proud father of his two daughters.

Richard was the beloved son of the late Richard A. Sr. and June E. Moore; cherished father of Emily E. Moore and Lauren I. Moore; dear brother of Linda A. Lambert and her husband Mark E; and Christine J. Moore and her husband Robert G. Bartolo. Richard is also survived by many caring friends and colleagues all around the world.

The family will receive friends in the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY INC., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road), Timonium, MD 21093 on Monday, January 17, 3-6 p.m, and on Tuesday, January 18,2022 from 10:30-11:00am, with a Celebration of Richard’s life begining at 11 a.m.

Those planning on attending the Gathering and or the Celebration are required to wear a face mask (preferably N95 or KN95) at all times.

Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
