A native New Yorker and first-generation college student, Pat earned a bachelor’s degree in English at Queens College in New York and had a successful career in media in New York and Puerto Rico before getting married in her late twenties, rare for a woman of her generation.
Pat’s career in print media included time with Charm Magazine: The Magazine for Women Who Work in New York and with ¡Qué Pasa! in Puerto Rico. Pat and her husband Gwen enjoyed sailing and hosting parties with friends in Puerto Rico, hosting family barbecues in their beautiful backyard in Maryland, watching their children’s and grandchildren’s performances and games over the years and going on cruises and celebrating holidays with close friends for decades. Pat also played singles and doubles tennis in local leagues in Baltimore County where she made dear friends. Pat leaves her legacy in her five children, 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her children: Leslie & Ron Bowen, Caren & Rob Norris, David & Dana McDade, Pam & Doug Johnson, and Debbie Ratliff; her 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Brett & Courtney Bowen (Brooks and Kylie), Matt & Kaitlin Bowen (Eloise and baby number two), Mickey & Kelsey Bowen (Bennett and baby number two), Samantha Bowen, Sarah Norris & Barry Turnbull, Adam & Brigida Norris, Aaron Norris, Rachel Norris, Mark Norris & Alexandra Cameron Norris, Taylor Smith, Anna Johnson & Ryan Gilbert, Christopher Johnson, Erin Ratliff, and Bill Ratliff. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Gwen D. McDade, her parents Gilbert Francis and Carmen (Blanco) Pereyo and her brothers John Pereyo and Gary Pereyo.
A memorial service for Pat will be Monday, September 26, 2022, at 11:30am at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley Inc., 10 West Padonia Road, Timonium, MD 21093. A reception will follow.
