George H. Beatty

George H. Beatty died peacefully in his home , Thursday, December 11, 2014 from complications of diabetes and kidney disease. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. He was 65 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Catherine (Cassie) Beatty (nee Fabiszak), three children, Jennifer McGurn, Kristin Beatty and Patrick Beatty and son-in-law, Douglas McGurn. He was the beloved Gramps to Megan, Kevin and Colin McGurn. He was preceded in death by his parents Felix (Snooks) and Lillian Beatty.

George graduated from Calvert Hall High School College in 1967. He played football and baseball in high school. He was a member of the Calvert Hall Glee Club and the drama club. George performed in musicals at Calvert Hall and Seton high schools, as well as St. Matthews and Towsontowne Dinner Theatre. As a young man, he sang with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Men & Boys Choir.

George was a commissioned police officer with the state of Maryland, employed by Sheppard Pratt Health System as a security officer for 27 years. He left Sheppard Pratt in 2006 due to his failing health.

George was an avid fan of sports, classic movies and trivia. He took great joy in watching his grandchildren participate in sporting and school-related events.

The family will receive friends in the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY INC., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Friday, 3-5 & 7-9pm and on Saturday, December 20, 10am-12noon followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel at Calvert Hall College High School, 8102 La Salle Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21286 at 1pm. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed in George's memory to the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland Inc., Heaver Plaza, 1301 York Road, Suite 404, Lutherville, MD 21093-6007
