Tom Clinton Barber was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Tom C. Barber, Sr and Ruby Elsie Maloney. He enlisted in the US Army on July 24, 1940. In November of 1941, he transferred to the Army Air Corps and served in the Pacific theater during WWII until his honorable discharge on September 11, 1945. As chief operations non-com of the 307th Bombardment group, he was stationed on the New Hebrides, Guadal Canal and the Halmaheras.
On December 26, 1945 he began work with General Petroleum and retired from its successor Mobil Oil Corp. in March 1981.
On March 26, 1949 he married the love of his life Vlasta N. Becvar.
He is survived by his wife, brothers Harvey L. Barber (Jane) and F. Harold Hamblet; many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Zora and Sharka Becvar, and countless friends. His parents, brother Harry Clifton Barber and Step-Father Frank Hamblet preceded him in death.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. A reception for those he leaves behind will be planned for the near future, internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either The Oregon Historical Society or The Salvation Army.

The Celebration of life has now been scheduled for Saturday April 28, 2012 from 1pm until 3pm. The gathering will be held at Metzger Park Hall, 8400 SW Hemlock Street in Tigard, Oregon.
