Ronald Scott Coggan, known affectionately as Scott, passed away on July 23, 2024, in Tigard, Oregon, at the age of 59. Born on May 19, 1965, Scott grew up in San Jose, where he attended Allen Elementary and Steinbeck Jr. High before graduating from Gunderson High School in 1983. He furthered his education at San Jose Jr College.
Scott dedicated over 30 years to a career in restaurant management, having worked at notable establishments such as TGI Friday's, Chili's, Famous Dave's, and BJ's restaurants. His career also included a stint at Amazon in the Portland area during and after the Covid pandemic, showcasing his adaptability and work ethic.
An avid sports fan, Scott was particularly passionate about Bay Area football, baseball, basketball, and hockey teams. His love for sports extended into his personal life where he enjoyed playing softball and basketball. Scott was also a skilled cook, often delighting family and friends with his culinary creations.
Scott is survived by his spouse, Elvia; his mother, Rosalind; and his father, Rollin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Coleen R. Coggan.
Services will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Tigard, Oregon. His life will be celebrated for the joy he brought to his loved ones and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
