Gary Lee loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on October 22, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 78 years old.
Gary was born in Newberg, Oregon to Clair and Waneta Lee. He was raised in Dundee, Oregon where he had many adventures as a young man. He was a 1964 graduate of Newberg High School.
Gary married Genevieve Pelson in 1968, and together they raised two daughters. He served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Collett during the Vietnam War. He had a long employment with Portland General Electric until his retirement.
Gary was the eighth wonder of the world, always so optimistic and positive. He was a kind and gentle soul. Gary so enjoyed talking with others and asking how they were doing. He was a very active man. He enjoyed hiking, golfing with his wife and friends, truly loved working in his yard, travel, listening to country music, and simply loved watching sports. He adored his four grandchildren, who know him as Booga.
His happy place was their Sunriver home and he treasured every moment there. While there he enjoyed biking, watching all the wildlife, strolling around Aspen Lake, sitting on the back deck in the warmth of the sun listening to the sounds of the airplanes taking off, and floating the Deschutes river with all the family. Gary lived a full life with energy, and quick-witted humor.
Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Genevieve; daughters, Michelle (Shane) Winder and Peggy (Mark) Remley; grandchildren: Logan, Declan, Connor, and Serena; siblings: Raymond (Skip) Lee, Barbara Lee and Chris Lee.
A private family service will be held. Until we are together again, you will be missed by all who knew and loved you.
