Semper Fi old friend.  Going to miss you.  Whether it was at work or working on projects together over the years.   I was proud of the fact that people and things in life wouldn't hold you back.  You always found a way to keep marching forward.  Looking forward to the day we'll all be retired and hanging out in Heaven. 

How do you put 30 years of friendship that was strong enough to last through marriage,  divorce,  Co parenting and grand parenting into a few words... 
I watched Steve grow from a shy single man into a great father, step father and one heck of a grandpa.  The only thing that gave him greater joy in life than being a firefighter was being "granpa Steve".  He bought the extravagant gifts,  gave the huge bowls of ice cream,  and never missed an opportunity to stuff a box with candy to ship when he couldnt be there, but never forgetting,  a birthday,  Christmas,  or Easter.  

As a friend and dad  he was always there no matter what the issue - the emergency phone call or just a chat to get a better point of view,  he was there.  

I will miss my friend greatly. 

I have known Steve for most of my career with Aurora Fire/Rescue.  We worked together on the same crew at Station 4.  Steve was always the guy that had a smile on his face and brought happiness to the rest of his crew.  Steve was a family man  who always put his family first,  he was especially proud of his daughter Nyssa and his love for her along with the rest of his family was very apparent!   Steve had a quiet demeanor about him and once you got to know him you could see how much he cared about his job, his country and those around him.  He served our great nation in the military with honor as well.   It was a privilege to know Steve and he will be greatly missed by so many.  May God bless his family. 

I worked with Steve for many years on Aurora Fire Department's Truck 4 and then Truck 7 when he was my Lieutenant.  Steve is a good man and he had a heart of gold.  He once told me he would stay and  die in a fire before he would ever leave a trapped child, that he was unable to rescue, alone in a fire. I believed him.  Steve was a "sheep dog" and an amazing protector for his Nyssa and his grandkids. The last time we talked he was very excited about his grandkids. You could tell he loved them and they brought him great joy.
He was a warrior here on earth, serving his country and then serving the community through firefighting and rescue services.  The military and Firefighting take a toll on its members, they sacrifice so much of their lives and all components of their health to protect and to save lives. Steve can be thought of with great honor for what he did and for his selflessness and sacrifices. 
I am sad at his death and surprised by the sudden nature of his departure, but his memory and friendship are eternal.  Love ya brother.

Enjoyed working with Steve at both employment areas of his life. 
Steve was a very reserved person until you got to know him some. 
Thank you Steve for your service to a grateful nation and City of Aurora {community}. 
May our God of all creation wrap his loving arms around Steve's family and friends at this time.

One of the last pictures taken of our dad. He was many things, friend, brother, son, husband, father. But his greats achievement in life was becoming a grandpa he loved his grandkids more then anything in the world. Hell be greatly missed and loved by many but mostly his grandkids.
