Russell was born on December 28, 1939 to Alvin and Opal Moore in New Market, Iowa.
They later moved to Nebraska city, Nebraska where Russell graduated from high school and went on to tech school in Milford, Nebraska for two years. He married Phyllis Mounce in 1960 and had three children: Debra Poggensee of Northglenn, CO; David Moore of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Susan Morris of Northglenn, Colorado. He has 12 grandchildren and 20 plus great-grandchildren.
Russell worked for Timpte Trailers for 17 years before they closed their doors, then he went to work for School District 12 where he worked for 17 years in the warehouse before he retired from there. He did volunteer work for District 12 for years.
He is survived by his sisters Eleanor Boyt of Denver, Colorado; Laurene Bartell of Thornton, Colorado; Judy Zelenda of Nebraska; and sister-in-law Peggy Moore of Thornton, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
