Nelda Arlene Parker

Nelda Arlene Parker (Rains) passed from this life into the arms of the Lord on November 21, 2022 at the age of 83.

Nelda was born on August 30, 1939, to Boone and Viola (Summers) Rains in Wellington, Kansas. Nelda was the youngest daughter of five children. She spoke of being raised in a loving home and was close with her siblings. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1957.

On August 23, 1958, at the First Christian Church in Wellington, Kansas, Nelda married her husband, Bobby D. Parker. They were married almost 62 years. They enjoyed many wonderful years together, raising their three sons and traveling the US and Europe.

Throughout her life, Nelda was a dedicated friend and family member who took pride in her work, home and appearance. She was accomplished in each of her professional roles, including banking and administration, and she ended her career as the City Clerk at the City of Arvada, Colorado. She was an excellent seamstress, typist, and manager, and enjoyed reading, writing, crossword puzzles, watching murder mysteries, swimming and travel.

Nelda is survived by her three sons, Steven, Gregory (Cherri) and Kirby (Barbara); ten grandchildren, Joseph (Tiffanie), Justine (Michael), Emelie (Alfredo), Bobby, Richard (Elizabeth-Mae), Melody, Matthew, Bradley, Sherry and Timothy (Ashleigh); nine great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Joy (Bob), Mary-Ellen (Glenn), and Buford. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby D. Parker, and her sister, Wanda (Wayne).

Her family fondly remembers that she never parted ways without telling them she loved them. Nelda will be greatly missed by her family and friends. To honor her life, we ask that you never miss the opportunity to tell your loved ones how much you love them and give yourself the freedom to lose yourself in a good book from time to time.

A funeral service for Nelda will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A graveside service will occur Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A reception will occur Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
