As I sit here and read all the wonderful things about Nancy all's I can do is cry.  I am so sorry for my dear dear friends Kim and Mike and the loss and sorrow they feel today.  I am sorry for her grandchildren. They were ALL so blessed to be a part of and to be loved by such a special person. We all were. Most of all I am eternally grateful for Nancy and her faith.  If it was not for her and Ozel and their steadfast trust and faith I would not know my Lord and Savior.  She was a mom, a mentor, a grandma, and a true friend to me, my girls and my family. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.   We will love you NONO forever.

Dearest Nancy, my friend for 50 years.  Whatever will I do without you?  It is incomprehensible that you will not be there when I call or that you will not be calling me.  You made such a difference in everyone's life you touched, mine most of all.

Bill and I will miss you so much and our heart goes out to all your family.  It is comforting to know you are with Ozell.  God always saves a place for angels such as you.

If you're tapping away at the keyboard this morning, my story-telling friend, please take a pause to "take in" this day's celebration of you:  It promises to be quite the event:  An outpouring of love, gathering of friendship, and shared "Nancy stories,"  If you pay attention to the details, it may even help to produce yet another chapter.

Such a shock to hear of Nancy's sudden death. Had a fun visit with her not all that long ago at a mutual friend's 60th birthday party. As usual, we talked books and writing. I had the privilege of working with Nancy and her classes in the College Hill Library at FRCC. She was one of those amazing people for whom teaching was a calling. She gave her students - and her colleagues - the utmost of her wit, her intelligence, her respect, and her gracious humanity.

Nancy was like a foster mom to me. I am so grateful for her love and wisdom.  I will never forget the light she brought to this world.

Nancy was a special "angel" who touched the lives of so many people.  If I had a need for a Stephen Minister to see someone our Heart to Heart team visited I only had to call Nancy and she willingly stepped in to help.  Our lives our better for just having met her.  She will be missed for she was so loved!

We loved Nancy so much! She was an angel in our lives, friend and mentor.  She was the perfect example of the kind of love God instructs us to give to others. We shared many things together, and had planned more coffee dates. I remember being around the campfire at a Stephen Ministry retreat singing songs. Nancy broke into a lively rendition of, "This Old House," and it was so much fun to hear her singing with gusto! She was full of life! Nancy encouraged me during some hard days and I will never forget what a kind and caring friend she was. I know so many others have the same memory of her Christian love. She will be so missed!

Grandma- I will miss you everyday of my life, my world was a better place with you in it. I love you with all of my heart and soul.

I just wanted to share some memories I had of Nancy Roberts.  Maybe it will find it's way to the right person.  I'm very saddened by her death and although you don't expect to stay in touch with your high school teachers, she was also my neighbor on Hobbit Lane and meant a lot to me.  I wanted to share my memories of her.  

We were reading the Scarlet Letter in class and after we finished the book she invited me and some classmates to watch the movie version in her home theater down in her basement.  She had real theater chairs and a big projector screen setup.  I was crazy impressed by this.  It was a lovely evening and she made us popcorn.  She loved films.

I wrote an essay on the scenery in "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allen Poe and she read my essay aloud to the class without giving away my identity.  She made me proud of my writing and gave me a lot of confidence in my own abilities in school.  I'll never forget how good it was to be acknowledged in this way. 

I loved the fact that she went to University at the same time as her daughter (I think?) later in life and made a career of being a teacher after having raised children herself.  I often use her story as an example of someone who followed their passion.

She was very wise and encouraging and just a lovely human being.  I admired her and her life choices and ability to pave her way to a rewarding career after being married so young and devoting her time to her family.    She was an incredible teacher and a highly intelligent lady who loved literature, films and writing.  It was contagious.      

Just some thoughts.  I'll remember her fondly.  She also helped shape me as a teacher.    When I last taught writing, I'd often read small excerpts from students work out loud to the class to share in their accomplishments.  Collectively looking  at what's right and not what's wrong.

Nancy was a fellow teacher at FRCC and my writing partner. She was looking forward to getting back into her writing, and I was looking forward to sharing that time with her. Her passing has left a hole in my heart and my daily ambitions. She's irreplaceable.

Nancy was a very giving person and full of love and compassion.  She was an inspiration to us in Stephen Ministry.

I so honored to have known and worked with Nancy at FRCC. I came to FRCC 10 years ago and Nancy's English class was the first I observed as a new teacher. Through my 10 years, Nancy taught for us on and off, but her most recent comeback leaves me with fresh, beautiful memories of this woman. This past week, as my colleagues and I have mourned her loss, we have been comforting each other with "Nancy stories." "Do you remember...?" and then each of us recounts the times she spoke encouraging words, dared to try new things, and offered us nothing but encouragement. I can only hope I can reach others in my career the way Nancy reached all of us.

To know Nancy was to be blessed by Nancy. With deepest sympathy for her family and her church family.  Her beautiful smile and spirit will be greatly missed!

I didn't know Nancy long, but the short time I knew her was wonderful! When she 'retired' from Stephen Ministry in June, I was always sad when I went to our Monday night meetings and no longer got to hug her and share a brief time talking with her. We attended different services on Sundays so I only occasionally would run into her, but always so glad to see her. She brought a bright spark each time I saw her, with her great faith and loving smile. She was a gift to all if us, miss her.

We loved Nancy so much -- she was so special-- Nancy & Ozell were very good friends for years -- we enjoyed the extra years when they lived in Las Cruces,NM---& we had our mini- reunions with Nancy & Ozell many times through the years when we came to visit in the Denver area .

 All her Artesia, NM classmates loved her also.

To  Kim, Mike & families -- we are so sorry for your loss of Nancy.  We are sending love & prayers to all of you.

We pray that the Lord receives beautiful Nancy's soul into Heaven where she will see the Glory of the Lord with her own eyes.  We pray for peace and comfort for her family that they know she is resting in the Lord's arms.

She exuded God's love in her knowledge, faith, service to others. If she impacted me in the short time I knew her, I know she made amazing impacts in so many more throughout her life. Nancy often started our phone conversations with "You were on my heart today, so I thought I'd call and see how you were."  I never failed to be touched that she thought about me and also took the time to tell me so.  My Esl students were so fond of her that I was  afraid to be absent too long for fear that they would not want me back.  I'll never forget her and her loving spirit.  Kathy Case

Nancy helped organize the Stephen Ministry program at Broomfield United Methodist Church.  As a Stephen Leader, she touched the lives of hundreds of people.  As a “caregiver”, she reached out to each hurting person – listening, praying, bringing a “cup of cold water” when it was needed, and Nancy helped each one to reach out to God as their “curegiver”.  With great skill, humor, and love,  she taught most of the 38 people who became Stephen Ministers – encouraging them to be Compassionate, Full of Faith, Skilled, Trustworthy,  and always centered on Christ.  

Saying farewell to her, as my friend, leaves a hole in my heart.  Even as I weep, I can hear Nancy quoting Psalm 46:1 to me:  “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.”
