Mary Ann Chimento was born February 18, 1939 and passed away at the age of 83 on June 12, 2022. Mary Ann lived a full life with her husband Cajetan Chimento and her children Eric Chimento, Alan Chimento (Rachel), Celeste Diller (Loren) and Linda Casey (Robert). She had eight grandchildren, Lisa Hermes (Anthony), Christopher Diller (Elisha), Rachel Sienko (Mike), Ivan Diller (Aria), Paul Casey (Mie), Natalie Diller, Allison Chimento and Audrey Chimento. And 10 great-grandchildren, Isaac Hermes, Nicholas Hermes, Kaitlyn Hermes, Hanae Diller, Casey Sienko, Brooklynn Sienko, William Sienko, Claire Hermes, Elio Diller, and Lucy Sienko.
Mary Ann was born and raised Catholic in Wallace Kansas to Peter and Seraphina Depperschmidt. She had five siblings Joyce (D), Rosa Lee (D), Peter-Duane (D), Patricia and Patrick-James. When Mary Ann was young her family moved to Pueblo Colorado, where she attended Pueblo Catholic Highschool and St. Mary-Corwin School of Nursing.
In 1959, Mary Ann married the love of her life, Cajetan Chimento at St. Francis Catholic Church in Pueblo, and soon after they moved to Aurora,Colorado. As they grew more in love, so did their family. Mary Ann continued her nursing career until she and her husband Cajetan opened their music store, “Chimento Music” located in Aurora and Thornton. Several years later, life in the country was calling them and they decided to move to Elizabeth where they could grow their own vegetables in their very own hydroponic greenhouse. Mary Ann missed nursing and went back to school to earn her bachelor’s degree of nursing from the University of Phoenix and worked for Kaiser until she retired.
Growing up mom was a woman of many talents and carried this on to her children by leading 4H with her husband Cajetan. This included all of her favorite hobbies such as writing, cooking, sewing, gardening, crocheting, raising rabbits, pheasants, and beekeeping. At home she was able to cook the most delicious Chinese, Italian, and German food (and could make it gluten free.) She was a brilliant woman who could solve any chemistry equation and also beat you at a match of scrabble.
Spending time with those she loved is what brought her joy, especially playing games, gardening, cooking, camping, and traveling with her husband and family. Everything she did was rooted in her Catholic faith while she served others, and created a legacy that has been carried on to each generation of the family.
Our sweet, loving, witty, and strong Mary Ann will be greatly missed by everyone who had the chance to meet and know her.
We love and miss you
