Loretta was born in Sterling, Colorado to Roy Luckey and Florence (Koenig) Luckey. Loretta attended public elementary school, Sexson Junior High School and completed grades 10 through 12 at Saint Anthony Catholic School in Sterling, Colorado. In her childhood, Loretta loved to be outdoors, play softball and go roller skating. In high school she continued to roller skate and would attend polka dances. After school she worked as a babysitter, an usher in a theater and later in a bakery before becoming a waitress.
Loretta went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Gerald (Jerry) Kloberdanz and started her family life. Loretta’s job in the marriage was to stay at home and take care of the home and the kids. Loretta and her husband raised seven beautiful children. While raising a family, Loretta spent a great deal of time with Cub Scout and Boy Scout activities, attending their sporting events, concerts and recitals. After her kids grew and blessed her with grandchildren, she continued to stay actively involved in their lives and attend their events. Loretta lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, wife, volunteer and friend.
She loved to cook and bake, kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with a crochet hook, knitting needles, a cross stitch needle, scrapbook paper, diamond dots, gardening tools and many more hobbies. When not doing her crafts, Loretta loved to get out in nature, going on vacation in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado where she would camp, hike and fish. Loretta had a love for the outdoors.
Most of all, Loretta loved her family. She instilled in her children strong values of love, caring and honesty. She taught us impeccable organizational skills and a sense of strong family ties.
After her children had all moved out, Loretta began volunteering at the food bank at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where she volunteered for over 15 years.
Loretta was a gentle soul who was always there to listen. She would gently guide you to become the best version of yourself and was quick to forgive when something went wrong. The one lesson she wanted everyone to learn more than anything in life was the importance of family. For Loretta, family was everything. Her definition of family extended far beyond those related by blood. If you were a friend of one of her kids or ever married to someone in the family, you became part of her core circle and remained long after friendships or marriages grew apart.
Loretta will be greatly missed by her children: Pat Kloberdanz and his fiancé Mary Mueller; Mike Kloberdanz and his wife Debbi; Rick May; Dan Kloberdanz and his wife Julie; Rick Kloberdanz and his partner Galan Roach; Kathy Bailey and her husband Paul; Janet Coraggio and her husband Tony; her siblings Dick Luckey and his wife Pat; Ellie Luckey; Heather Luckey; Dennis Luckey and his wife Linda; Joe Luckey and his wife Mara; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Florence, her husband Gerald, her daughter Susan, her sister Mary Ellen, and her brothers Tom and Bill.
