Geri dearly loved her husband, John, of 37 years. She also whole-heartedly loved her children and grandchildren, generously participating in their lives with joy, creativity, and individuality. Geri was personable, friendly, and had an easy laugh. She could talk to anyone and they would feel better as she listened, encouraged, and affirmed them. Geri was an accomplished seamstress and delighted in preparing grand Italian meals for family and guests. She enjoyed dancing, traveling to visit family, and exploring the world on cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. Her deep love of the majestic Rocky Mountains fed her soul with peace and strength. Geri had an unshakeable faith in God and prayed with diligence and joy throughout her life. She was a role model of unfailing Love, Hope, and Gratitude. Geri was a Breast Cancer Survivor. Geri exemplified courage and was a fighter to the end, always choosing life. She never gave up.
Geri is survived by her husband John Patrick McDermott, Jr, of Thornton, Colorado; daughter BryAnn Nicole Wyatt (Marvin), grand-daughter Estella, of Thornton, Colorado; son John Anthony McDermott (Shannon Stegeman), grandsons Damion, Memphis, Dominik of Pingree, North Dakota, grandson Damian and grand-daughter Lucy (Athena Roys) of Sterling, Colorado; brothers Tony, Pat, and John Licata; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Geri was preceded in death by her parents Barbara and Anthony Licata, of Denver, Colorado, and grandchildren Arthur and Rosemary.
Funeral Mass will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Thornton, Colorado, on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 10:30 am. Burial will be immediately after the Mass at Olinger Highland Cemetery, Thornton, Colorado. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nurses at National Jewish Hospital, St Joseph's Hospital, and Anschutz Hospital, Denver,
Colorado. Memorial donations may be made to The National Breast Cancer Foundation, or to one of the hospitals listed directly above.
