After graduating from East High School, Edward proudly served in the Army before marrying the love of his life, Sharon R. Murphy, on January 7, 1966, in Denver. Sharon and Ed met thru a blind date at a flight lesson. This lead to marriage and both of their private pilot’s licenses. Edward enjoyed a rewarding career as an aircraft mechanic and retired from United Airlines.
Edward’s interests were as diverse as his talents. He was a member of an accordion marching band, embraced the great outdoors through sailing, camping, and gardening, and was known for his keen interest in electronics. He built the family's television. A passionate reader and an avid skeet shooter, he approached every new hobby with enthusiasm and a dose of his trademark dad jokes. He didn't know a stranger.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; his children, Lori Lynn Barker (Art), Sean Patrick Schroeder (Yvonne), and Matthew Jason Schroeder; and his cherished grandchildren: Lindsay Large (Jesse), Kim Dewey (Brandon), Katrina Schroeder (Tyler), and Shane Schroeder (Khalya). Great-grandchildren: Amelia Ruth, Aiden, and Shayla. He is also survived by his cherished furkids, Clancy and Cleo.
Edward was preceded in death by his sister, Margie Kelly; his parents; and several nieces and nephews, including Clifford, William, Cheryl, Kay, and Kenneth Black, as well as his furkids Chunker, Chelsea, Corky, Captain, and Janie.
In honor of Edward’s memory, the family requests that donations be made to Soul Dog Rescue at 1245 Factory Circle, Fort Lupton, CO 80621 www.souldog.org or the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/donate/memorial-giving.html
