Doreen Robinson, of Broomfield, Colorado passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the age of 99 years. Doreen was born September 1, 1922 in Swansea, Wales to Glyn and Catherine Sims. She was the eldest of five children.
Doreen grew up in Wales and England, and played a key role in the survival of her family during the bombing of the family home in Birmingham, England during an air raid in World War II.
Doreen moved to the United States in 1952 upon her marriage to Peter Robinson, an aspiring mechanical engineer. Doreen and Peter were married for 49 years until Peter's death in 2001. They had three children. Peter's career with IBM took the family from Detroit, Michigan to Lexington, Kentucky, and on to Boulder, Colorado in 1974. Doreen devoted herself to the raising of her children, and could always be counted on to provide a loving home.
Doreen always loved music. She also loved ballroom dance, and as a young woman in 1945 she achieved bronze, silver, and gold certification. Following Peter's death, Doreen returned to her love of ballroom dance. She was active in Denver’s ballroom dance community for many years, and participated in dance competitions in various states.
Doreen was an exceptional person and will be greatly missed by her children, her friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Doreen was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings; Ken, Raymond, Gwyn, and David. She is survived by her three children, George Arthur Robinson, James Peter Robinson (Silvia), and Catherine Elizabeth Hunt (Steven), as well as nieces and nephews in England.
