Curt was born in Portland, Oregon on November 16, 1939. After surviving the Vampart flood in 1948, Curt went to St. Mary’s Home for Boys in Beaverton, Oregon until his adoption by his maternal grandparents Jack and Vesta Morgan. Curt graduated from Grants Pass High School where he was a track and cross-country letterman for three years for which he was later initiated into the Grants Pass High School Cross Country Hall of Fame.
After high school, Curt enlisted into the U.S. Navy and became an Aviation Electronics Technician. While in the Navy, Curt continued his education in naval electronic schools, ran for and lettered on the naval cross country team, and worked on Fighter Squadron 51 in NAS Miramar for the duration of his naval career.
Once his service was completed, Curt worked for the Pacific Telephone Company followed by a 30 year career as a National Account Executive at AT&T and a 13 year career with IBM as a Design Engineer where he designed internet services in foreign countries. During his tenure at AT&T Curt was awarded the IBM National Account Team Outstanding Contribution Award and the Sales Vice President’s Excellence Council Award.
In his retirement, Curt loved playing tennis and pickleball, going fishing, riding his bike, gardening, smoking food on his Traeger, rock crawling in the Jeep with his youngest son, and being with his grandchildren.
Curt is survived by his wife of 50 years, Roxanne Hirsch, and their two sons: son Chris Hirsch, his wife Kara and their children Kendra, Tyler, and Maddison; youngest son Pat Hirsch, wife Jenny and their daughter Rylee. Curt is also survived by his oldest son and daughter by previous marriage, Steven Hirsch (wife Glynnis and son John) and Lorri Jones (husband Lorenzo, daughter Gloria, son Devin, and granddaughter Aylani).
Funeral services have been arranged by Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery and will be held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 with a viewing at 10:00 am followed by a mass at 11:00 am.
