Brian J. Compton, 68, died peacefully in his Thornton, Colorado home on March 3rd 2022, after a brief battle with lung cancer and stroke complications. He was born on October 21st 1953, in Detroit, Michigan to Kenneth E. and Joan E. (Renaud) Compton.
Brian graduated from Southfield High School in Michigan, Class of 1971. Later in life, Brian found his soulmate and best friend – Kristie J. (Haynes). She led him to Christ. They celebrated 33 years of a God blessed, Christian marriage this past December.
He was predeceased by his mother, Joan. Surviving in addition to his wife; are his father, Kenneth of Michigan; his son, Kenneth of Arizona; his son, Andrew of Colorado; his daughter Katherine and her fiancé Lei Yang of Colorado; his brother Kenneth and his wife Cindy, of Michigan; his sister Janet Patterson of Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.
Brian was a long-time member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Broomfield, Colorado. He found great pleasure in the various Bible studies, small groups, and classes in which he participated. He could see and appreciate the majesty, power, and sovereignty of our Creator everywhere he looked. Therefore, he relished the changing seasons, watching nature and wildlife, and caring for the many pets he considered his “fur-kids” over the years.
Going to NASCAR races, professional baseball and hockey games with his family and friends was a favorite pastime. Nothing put a smile on his face more than attending one of his children’s plays, concerts, or competitions. Brian had simple tastes and a day fishing or hanging out on the lake brought him more joy than any expensive vacation. He was an avid reader, and his favorites included the Holy Bible, history books, or a good biography of a figure whom he admired.
Though he was somewhat shy and quiet, once meeting Brian, one would be drawn in by his warm smile and cheerful laugh, experiencing his easy going, peaceful, and friendly personality. All animals and children gravitated towards Brian, instantly trusting, and loving him. He was hard working, kind, and compassionate; an ever present, devoted, and generous husband, father, and friend.
Because of the love that Brian poured into each of us, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for a life well lived. Though we weep, because we will miss him deeply and always; may we remember the great hope that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ secured for us. So, then, until we see Brian again on the other side of eternity, let us turn our tears into joy by pouring love into the hearts and lives of others; then too, we may become more Christlike.
