SWINDEN, STAMATA (MATTIE)--Peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on April 6th, 2020 in her 77th year. Mattie will be profoundly missed by her beloved husband Michael of 55 years, her loving son Dean (Carolyn), her loving daughter Lucy (Andrew) and her cherished grandchildren Madelaine (Maddy) and Cassandra. She will be greatly missed by her sister Niki, her loving nieces Angie and Penny and all her many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Mattie was a woman of many talents, including being an excellent cook, gardener and was knowledgeable and passionate about world politics, as she watched CNN every day. Mattie personified kindness, generosity, genuine compassion, strength, a forgiving nature and a warm loving soul. Always unselfish, she was constantly thinking of others and their needs and touched many people's lives through the years. She was doer and finisher, proactive in all aspects of her life.
Mattie will be profoundly remembered for her career in real estate. Many people will fondly remember her as someone who would never hesitate to offer guidance, direction and with her knowledge and ethical character, she helped thousands of people purchase a home. Her legacy can be seen all over the GTA. She was a very capable individual who constantly offered helpful words and encouragement to many. Mattie was someone you could rely upon and open up to freely. She was a very special person and has left a lasting impression on all us. We will miss her tremendously. There was nobody like her.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Mackenzie Health Hospital for their dedication, compassion and care of our beloved Mattie.
A private visitation and service will be held at RS Kane funeral home in Toronto on April 9th, 2020, with a private interment at York Cemetery.
