After a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Providence Centre in his 76th year. Loving and caring husband of Lillian (nee Dowdell). Devoted father of Elaine (Larry) Smith, Wayne (Charlene Correa), and Teresa (Gord) Payment. Cherished grandfather of Crystal and Amy Smith, Nicole McNaught, and Jim and Jeff Payment, and great-grandfather of Daniel Smith and Mackenzie Jennings-Payment. Survived by his sister Helen Connor. Special thanks to the staff of Providence Centre for their care and compassion. Friends may call on Friday, September 7, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
