Born to Alexander and Edith Porter of Tobermore, Ruth entered the world on October 22, 1930, as one of two children. Her early years were spent in Ireland on a farm, sharing adventures and chores with her brother Leslie. During wartime, Ruth met Calvin McKee, and their love story blossomed. After the war, they immigrated to Canada and married, beginning a new chapter in Toronto.
In Toronto, Ruth worked downtown while Calvin started a business. Together, they bought a home at 302 Fairlawn Avenue, affectionately known as '302'. Their home became a welcoming haven for family and friends from around the globe. Ruth and Calvin raised three children: Glenda (Chris, Eason & Natasha), David (Chris) & Lloyd (Teresa).
Today, we honor the remarkable life of Ruth and the virtues she embodied. Though her life presented challenges, Ruth faced them with grace and dignity. She was compassionate, hardworking, aware, intelligent, quiet, and generous. Her artistic flair, impeccable color and fashion sense, and culinary skills were admired by all. Ruth was a devoted homemaker, mother, friend, and wife. Under her nurturing, we all thrived.
Ruth lived with unwavering faith and now rests among the stars, her legacy shining brightly.
Special thanks to carers Lea, Grace, Gina, Catherine as well as Janet, Dolly and Liziel, her angels on earth who helped mum live her best life in her final months.
