Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, he was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.
Leo was born March 29th 1934 in Toronto and spent his childhood on Columbus Ave. He met his wife Betty Anne (nee Pearson) and took her to a dance at the Masonic Temple, fell in love and married in 1955. They raised their three daughters and spent their remaining years together in Willowdale until her passing in 2004.
Leo is predeceased by his daughter, Meribeth Gerrie.
He will be missed by his daughters Alison Coville (Vic) and Charlene Miller (Jason). Bapa was loved by his grandchildren Michael, Tristan, Bailey (Andrea), Maddy (Ben), Peyton, Marco and Stefanie and great grandson James. He will be fondly remembered and held dear in the hearts of many extended family members and friends.
Leo was the President and owner of the electrical contracting company Buxton & Dawe Ltd, where he started his career as an apprentice and ultimately a licensed Master Electrician.
He was honored to hold the position of President of the Electrical Contractors Association (ECAT) and a member of the examining board for Master Electricians.
He had a love of sports starting as a forward with the Oshawa Green Gaels Lacrosse team in 1955, was a season ticket holder of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Gardens and enjoyed a lifetime of golf both playing and watching.
Leo lived his Catholic faith by generously donating his time to his cherished Blessed Trinity Parish, giving of his resources to many charities and decades of volunteering at the Canadian Blood Services donor clinics.
To know him was to love him.
Guests will be received at KANE-JERRETT FUNERAL HOME, 8088 Yonge St.
(South of Hwy 7) on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Trinity Parish, 3220 Bayview Ave. (South of Steeles Avenue) on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 10:30 am. To view the livestream please use this link: www.blessedtrinityparish.ca
There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at Blessed Trinity, with a reception in the parish hall to follow.
Burial to follow at York Cemetery.
