It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving, generous, and caring Mom, Joan Madeleine Foy. Joan passed away on Thursday, May 13, at the age of 89.
Devoted and much loved mother, Joan is survived by her five children, Mary Foy, Katherine Amodeo, Trish Foy, Annie Foy, and Chris (Joanna) Foy. Sadly missed by her brother, Bill Reeder.
Proud and amazing Grand Nans, so full of Love and Light, to Alex, Jennifer (Nikita), Jonathon (Alex), Caitlin, Carly, Rachel, Serafina (Taylor), Andrew, Audrey and Cate. Great-grand Nans to Tyler, Anastasia, Oliver, Elliot, and due in September - Baby Kramarovsky and Baby James.
Joan was a dedicated and passionate critical care nurse who pioneered Palliative Care at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Gifted with vision and initiative, Joan also co-founded Interlink Services where she lovingly served patients in the community who were diagnosed with cancer. Joan will be missed by the many people she touched with her deep compassion and empathy. In gratitude, Joan described her work with her patients and their families as the “privilege of my life”.
Joan is treasured by her many wonderful, supportive friends who remember her warmth, sense of humour, insights, and beautiful heart. We were all so blessed to have had Joan in our lives, giving us a lasting memory of her love, strength, joy and wisdom.
Many thanks to the Palliative Care team at Sunnybrook Hospital for their support and kindness.
Family and friends will be notified of the date for the funeral Mass to be celebrated in honour of our Mom. Online condolences may be left here on the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home website.
I believe that when death closes our eyes
We shall awaken to a light,
of which our very sunlight is but the shadow.
