Jean McKay Calvert

After a long, exemplary life and a mercifully short fight with cancer. Dear daughter of the late Carman McKay and Lillian Meyer of Palmerston, Ontario. Beloved wife of the late John Stewart Calvert. Adored mother of the late Donald (Monika, Louise, and Kathy), and of Ian (Caroline), Jim (the late Barbara) and Dave (Vanessa). Precious grandmother of Brandon (Brooke), Anna (Dylan), Dan (Thyra), Lauren (Dave), and Lily. Doting great-grandmother of Orion and River. Fondly remembered by her many Calvert nieces and nephews, and by brother-in-law Harold and sister-in-law Micheline. "Mom" and "Ma" to untold others who relied on her empathy and counsel. A charter member of Thornhill Baptist Church, and a Christian in word and deed through her countless charitable works.

Visitation at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street, Toronto on Thursday April 12th between 7 and 9 p.m. Celebration of her life to be held at Thornhill Baptist Church, 8018 Yonge Street, on Friday April 13th at 2 p.m. (No details are available on the massive parade through the Pearly Gates.) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House, The Sharing Way or the Canadian Cancer Society.
