April 9, 1923 - Sept 19, 2017
A Torontonian his entire life, Harvey passed away peacefully in the Veterans Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's. His good and kind inner self shone through to the very end.
Beloved husband of Beryl for almost 75 years, loving dad of Barbara and Bill and his wife Paula, Grandpa to Jennifer (Diana), Papa to Sara (Tyler) and Katie (Robert), GGpa to Nathan, Erika, Ian and Carys. He will also be remembered as a wonderful son and brother.
Harvey enlisted into the RCAF in 1943 and went overseas as a part of the Husky Squadron 437 - a unit that provided general transport during WWll. He continued in service until the end of the war. Always and forever a proud Canadian!
Harvey was born with a hammer in his hand. At 10 years old he was already building kitchen cupboards for his mother. After the war he invested in his passion and started his own business. A custom built Toronto home by Harvey W. Attwell was a desired and prestigious residence. Harvey's reputation for quality and honesty was well known in the real estate business. Producing only 3 or 4 per year each Attwell home was a gem and in great demand.
A heartfelt thank you to the many loving hands that cared for Harvey in the Veteran's K-wing. His sincere smile, the twinkle in his eyes and his sharp sense of humour cheered both staff and residents alike. His presence will be missed by all. We will be eternally grateful to all the staff for the support and kindness shown to the entire family during Harvey's stay.
We are honouring Harvey's request that there be no funeral service. A private cremation will take place.
As expressions of sympathy the family would gratefully appreciate donations to Veterans Comfort Fund. Contact Heather at 416-480-6100 (ext 6182) or the charity of your choice.
