On January 23, 2010, the "Amazing Grace", born in Brooklyn, New York 95 years ago, was called peacefully to God in Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga to be reunited with her beloved husband Rocco (Roy), and her dear son Robert and welcomed by her brothers, Rosario, Albert and Silvio Morra.
Grace lives on in the loving memory of her son, Richard and his wife Sheila, her daughter-in-law, Diane Francoeur, her loving and appreciative grandchildren Michelle (Jamie Carlisle), Joanne, Irene, Roy (Chiu-Ping) and Lenore, all of whom have enjoyed her animated and playful spirit to the end. She lives on also in the loving memory of her sisters, Vera Volpe, Olga Willadsen and Violet Blight, of her sister-in-law and constant friend, Joyce Morra and is fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families.
Grace had many artistic gifts. In her youth she honed her natural musical ability by devoted study and became a highly accomplished pianist. She mastered the craft of garment design and workmanship by training in the fashion industry in New York and became a much sought after ladies' tailor in Toronto.
Grace was, for many years, a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Toronto and for 40 years, (until four years ago) a very active member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Willowdale, where she was involved in the CWL, in the parish seniors' group and was a very creative and generous contributor of time and talent to the fund-raising projects of the Craft Group.
For over 30 years, Grace was a regular volunteer attendant at Blood Donor clinics in the GTA. She was much appreciated by staff and donors for her gregarious, fun-loving nature.
In the last 4 years, Grace was a lively, well-liked, resident of Erin Mills Lodge in Mississauga, where she was supported in a warm personal manner by a caring staff.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church (3220 Bayview Avenue). Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
