Carol Anne Jenkin (nee Zealand) passed away peacefully after a short battle with COVID-19 pneumonia on June 4, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. She is survived by her children, Tracy Jenkin (Keith Rogers) and Darren Jenkin (Melanie Rice). She is also survived by her sister Diane Ruddock (Gary), and nephews Jamie Ruddock (Mary), Brent Ruddock, and Darryl Ruddock (Jenn), as well as her sister-in-law Ann Jenkin and niece Clara McVittie. Carol is pre-deceased by her husband Keith Edward Jenkin, her parents Elsie and Garnet Zealand, and her brother Alan Zealand.
Carol was a registered nurse and graduate of the Toronto East General Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1966. She also spent many years working for Metro Toronto in health care administration. Carol was passionate about travelling and remained active into her senior years, playing golf and bridge and before that, curling and skiing. She enjoyed many years boating on Georgian Bay and, in retirement, cottage life in McKellar and Parry Sound. Recently, Carol loved to watch the sailboats from her condo window in Etobicoke and going to the theatre. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family expresses their deep and heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre for their dedication and compassionate care during these difficult times.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in Carol’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Sunnybrook Foundation, or St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation.
Condolences can be left at the R.S. Kane Website.
