He was born in Thomasville, NC, on February 27th, 1947, to father William Reid Hill, Sr. and mother Marion Elizabeth Long Hill.
W.R. was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 24,1966, and was honorably discharged on October 17,1968. He served in Vietnam as a part of the 54th Artillery Group. During his time of service he was awarded the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
He and his wife, Carolyn, married on February 14, 2002. They ministered together in song at various rest homes and churches throughout North Carolina. They were a spiritual blessing to many people over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers John Hill and Jackie Hill. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Miller Hill; sister, Lena Ann Reardon; children, Wendy Spry (Darrell), Christopher Hill, and Crystal Lucas (Roger); grandchildren, Beth Ton (Lam) and Alex Spry, Leck and Paulina Lucas; and two great-grandchildren, Jace Ton and Michael Spry.
Due to Covid, there will be no funeral or memorial service at this time.
