Rita Gail Newberry Pruitt

Mrs. Rita Gail Newberry Pruitt, 54, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at High Point Regional Hospital.

A resident of this area most of her life, Rita was born on July 23, 1960 in Russell County, VA to the late Paul and Dorothy Plaster Newberry. On July 3, 1981, she married Darrell Pruitt, who survives of the home. She was a devoted and faithful member of Cloverdale Church of the Living God and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Angela Newberry.

Surviving is her husband, Darrell Pruitt of the home; daughters, Christi Hemric and her husband Philip of Thomasville and Brianna Pruitt and her fiancé Hueston Lackey of Thomasville; grandchildren, Kylie, Patrick, and Brittany Hemric; sister, Connie Richardson and her husband David of Pounding Mill, VA; and one brother, Gerald Newberry and his wife Koreen of Swords Creek, VA.

A celebration of Rita’s life will be held at 2 pm Friday in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, Thomasville, with Rev. David Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
