After marrying Robert on April 28, 1956, the couple bought a house in Thomasville. She did clerical and office work for Pearson, formerly Clyde Pearson Company (High Point), until her retirement. She lived in the same house until her passing.
She had a great love for the outdoors. She was an avid gardener, and was always tending to her vast indoor floral collection as well. She possessed a passion for sewing also, and often gave homemade pillows and aprons as gifts for all occasions. She also enjoyed sitting either outside or by a window and watching the various birds visiting her bird feeders or nesting in the houses that she had hung for them. Above these hobbies however, nothing surpassed her love for her children and grandchildren to whom she was fiercely devoted.
