Clyde Preston Peters, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away surrounded by family on November 3, 2024. He was 74. Clyde’s life was filled with love, laughter and dedication to his family and passions.
Born on June 28, 1950 to Ann Barnhill, Clyde was the devoted husband of Rhonda Peters and the proud father of Clyde Preston Peters, Jr. (Chrissy) and Colleen Renee Peters. He leaves behind a cherished legacy in his grandchildren: Makayla, Owyne, Chylie and Clifton and great grandson Nolan. Clyde is also survived by his sisters, Kay (Gary) and Janis (Wayne) and special nephews and nieces in North Carolina and Colorado. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Barnhill, grandparents Preston and Maggie Spivey and brother Larry Houpts.
A man with a lifelong love for cars - especially classics - Clyde enjoyed traveling to various car shows with friends. He owned and operated Peters Motor Cars in Thomasville. He also owned and managed several rental properties in Thomasville and Ocean Isle. He found joy and peace at “The Cando,” the family’s treasured beach house, where he created countless memories with loved ones. He was a very special man and a hard worker to the end. He was kind and loving and gave a lot of tough love.
Clyde will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his kindness, and the lasting impact he left on those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
Clyde’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will be receiving guests from 2-5pm on Sunday, November 10th, 2024 at Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville, NC 27360. This will be a floating visitation as no formal services will be held.
