It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved brother, Wade Dewitt Eichelberger, a long-time resident of The Woodlands, Texas, who left an enormous void in the hearts of all who knew him on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Born on August 25, 1971, to Reed Eichelberger and Darlynn Gober, Wade's life was one of simple existence, choosing to focus his time, love and energy on the things and people that most resonated with him.
Wade was a graduate of J.L. McCullough High School, where he cultivated lasting friendships and laid the foundation for a life filled with diverse interests. One of his greatest joys was the game of golf, and he immersed himself in it, often taking jobs on golf courses to be surrounded by the sport he enjoyed the most. His natural athletic abilities and enthusiasm for golf often left others trying to keep up.
In his younger years, Wade worked at Greek Tony's and Brother's Pizza, where he not only earned a living but also formed lifelong friendships. The camaraderie he built with those who worked in these well-known community establishments remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Beyond the greens, Wade found solace in music, spending countless hours strumming his acoustic guitar. He possessed an innate talent for finding music that spoke to him and worked towards mastering it. At times, he would sit and play beautiful melodies that resonated with the souls of those lucky enough to listen.
Wade's connection with animals was extraordinary and he could be considered a bit of an animal whisperer. While he was good with all pets, his dogs held a special place in his heart, providing him with loyal companionship throughout the years.
An all-around sports enthusiast, Wade played tennis in high school and continued to engage in various sports with friends later in life. His love for watches and his avid interest in history were a testament to his diverse and inquisitive nature. Wade immersed himself in reading historical works, delving into the intricacies of past major events and cultures.
Wade is preceded in death by his father, Reed Eichelberger, but his memory lives on in the hearts of those who survive him. He is survived by his loving mother, Darlynn Gober of Spring, Texas, and his sister, Jill Schweiker, along with her husband Brian Schweiker and their two sons, Austin and his wife Kaleigh, and Cole Schweiker along with his partner Ellisa Freeman. His extended family, The Kirbys – David, Jeanelle, Jake, Kara, and Jack Kirby, as well as his dearest friends, Buck Gamble and Michelle Tacconi, to whom he was a brother, mourn the loss of a remarkable soul who touched their lives in profound ways.
Wade Dewitt Eichelberger will be remembered for his honesty, steadfastness, complexity, and the indelible mark he left on everyone fortunate enough to have known him. A memorial service to celebrate Wade's life will be held on Saturday, January 27th, at 2 pm at Forest Park Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
