Susan Lynn Ibarra, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 2nd, 2023.
She was born on December 23rd, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Doris and Ron Johnson. She grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin with her parents and her younger brother, Craig Johnson. She met her future husband, Hector Ibarra during her Senior year of high school when he was a foreign exchange student at Waukesha High School. He returned to Colombia after graduation, but they continued to correspond long distance. On January 11th, 1969 Hector and Sue Ibarra wed and began their life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During their time in Milwaukee, they had their children Angela and Tricia. In 1979 they moved to Houston, Texas where Sue lived for the rest of her life.
Susan worked as a bookkeeper for many years and loved spending time with her co-workers. She was passionate about Art and History and dedicated many years to volunteering for the Houston Heritage Society and the Museum of Fine Arts as a docent. She made great friends at both places and made a big impact on the community.
Susan loved her family and created a fun life for them filled with meaningful traditions that will be passed on for generations. Susan and Hector were married for 54 years and are a beautiful example of commitment for all that knew them.
She is preceded in death by her parents Roynald Bastion Johnson and Doris Mame Hawkinson. Sue is survived by her husband, Hector Ibarra, her daughters Angela Dunham and Tricia Salas, her grandchildren Austin Dunham, Sydney Dunham, Jacob Salas, and Alex Salas, her brother Craig Johnson.
A visitation for Susan will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 3801 South Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77381.
