Sharon Burke, 67, beloved wife, mother and “Mimi”, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012. She was born February 27, 1945 in Jacksonville, Texas. She was a resident of Conroe and The Woodlands since 1975.
Sharon loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. Her true passion was her five grandchildren and she attended every school activity and sporting event possible. Sharon worked most recently as an office manager at Champion Fiberglass for over 15 years. She briefly enjoyed retirement in 2010, but felt a special calling to do more. In 2011 she became a volunteer for CASA Court Appointed Special Advocates and dedicated herself to making a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children. She treasured the infants and toddlers entrusted to her and showered them with extra special hugs and kisses.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Barry Burke; her son Mike Watthuber and wife, Stacey, and their children Bailey, McKenna and Cameron; her son Mark Watthuber and wife, Susan, and their children Mason and Amanda. Sister, Verdene Jennings, brothers Jerry Masters, Jimmy Masters and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her brother Vernon Masters, her grandson Brayden Watthuber and her granddaughter Lauren Watthuber.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Forest Park The Woodlands from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park of The Woodlands with Pastor Eric Klimpel of Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church officiating.
