Phyllis Kay White

Phyllis Kay Pierce White's family rejoices in knowing that their beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother has entered into Everlasting Peace with Jesus Christ, her Savior, having left this Earth on December 19, 2023. Kay began her life on October 3, 1941, the daughter of Kathleen McConnell Pierce and William James (Bill) Pierce in the small town of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Kay always took pride in telling people she was an "Okie from Muskogee" her entire life. Raised on a farm outside of Stigler, Oklahoma, Kay fell in love with her horse, Buttons, as a child which led to a lifelong passion for horses and the rescuing of these sacred animals.

Kay attended high school and college in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she soon met the love of her life, Bill J. White, who took her as his bride on October 2, 1960. Together, they had three children, Tanya Louise White Quisenberry (1963) of Owasso, OK, Jill Marette White Barber (1966) of The Woodlands, TX, and Wade Pierce White (1969) of Broken Arrow, OK. Working for Phillips Petroleum, Bill and Kay moved throughout Oklahoma and Missouri until they landed in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. During those years, Kay experienced a 13 year long teaching journey which included teaching third through fifth grade, priding herself on diagnosing a child with dyslexia as well as a child with diabetes. Kay was extremely instrumental in putting her three children through college and deserves accolades regarding the dedication in financially assisted her children to obtain their college degrees.

After losing the love of her life (Bill) to brain cancer after 30 years of marriage (1990), Kay went on to boldly care for her parents and aunt until their deaths. Soon afterwards, she decided to move to The Woodlands, Texas in 2007, where she lived a life of happiness surrounded by her middle child and her family, as well as new friends who brought her into a social community of fun events as well as several bridge families.

After three and a half years of bravely fighting ovarian cancer and its trials and tribulations, Kay made the decision to follow God's plan and come home to Him. With the help of her daughter, Jill, Jill's husband Phil, and their sons Blake and Reed, Kay lived four months in their home surrounded by much love, respect and honor until God called her Home.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Tanya, and her husband Jerry, her daughter, Jill and her husband Phil, her son, Wade, and his wife Jolene, her grandsons Cole, Blake and Reed, and her great grandchildren Gentry and Adam. Her greatest wish was that she and her husband could have shared together the incredible joy of knowing their adult children, their grandchildren and great grandchildren during their lifetime.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her only sibling and sister, Gail, her parents, her maternal and paternal grandparents, and her three cousins. Kay wishes a long life for her three children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, always saying "live your best life while you are in your 40s and 50s because life is short!"

Kay lived a life of strength, courage, bravery, loyalty, and was such an example of "following the rules". We will all remember and follow her example of how to live life. Kay has always spoken the truth....."Love is the answer."

Kay's Celebration of Life will be December 26, 2023 at 2 PM in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, The Woodlands, TX, and then flown to Tulsa, OK, to be laid to rest next to her late husband. In lieu of flowers, please send any tributes to Operation Pets Alive of Montgomery County (operationpetsalive.org) or A Place for Peanut (aplaceforpeanut.com) in order to save the lives of animals, most especially horses.
