She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 64 years, Richard Charles Oburn.
She is survived by her daughter Martha Louise Oburn, her daughter Nancy Mackintosh and husband Robert, her grandson Volney Fitzgerald and wife Mathilde, and her grandsons Trey and Rhys Fitzgerald.
She was born in Washington, D.C. on September 24, 1923. When she was 15, the family moved to Dallas, Texas where she attended Sunset High School. She began college at the University of Maryland, but returned to Texas and completed her studies in food science at the University Of Texas-Austin. There she met her life’s love, Richard, on August 8, 1945, when he was a GI stationed at Bastrop. They were married on March 24, 1946.
She found happiness in her family, raising her daughters in Denver, Colorado. When they left for college, she found that volunteering and playing golf were not enough to keep her busy. So she worked in the food industry for nearly 20 years, including managing the Meals on Wheels program in Oklahoma City.
Patricia enjoyed people, making friends easily wherever she lived. When they moved to Plano, she was a founder of Gals in Golf, an organization of women golfers that grew to nearly 200 members. She became a very good golfer and was proud of her hole-in-one. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, who organized their trips to countries including England, Greece, Switzerland, Spain, Egypt, Mexico, and the Far East.
Moving to The Woodlands after Richard’s death in 2010, she continued to reach out to others with her bright smile and sympathetic ear. She attended Trinity Episcopal Church and developed close friendships while living at the Forum and in Unlimited Care Cottage 3. She will be missed by her family and all those who knew her.
