Leonila was born on July 16, 1928, in Ballesteros, a part of the Cagayan province in the Philippines. She attended the University of Manila before meeting the love of her life, Valentin Unite. They were married in June 1952. She worked diligently as a seamstress in the Philippines before relocating to Hawaii and working in the hospitality industry.
Throughout her life, Leonila had an eye for style and a talent for bringing joy to others. She loved making people feel their best with her handmade dresses and careful hairdressing. She was also very fond of nature’s beauty and maintained lush gardens wherever she lived. But above all things, she was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her nights were not complete without hymns and worship.
She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Valentin and her son Valentin Unite Junior. Her legacy lives on through four daughters; Elisa Unite Diozon, Edna Unite Cruz, Charito Unite, and Lorna Unite. She also has four grandchildren; Arianne Diozon, Jean Louise Cruz, Ezrel Cruz, and John Paul Unite. Her living brothers and sisters are Flora Molina Jose, Lagrimas Molina Cabeliza, Jovita Molina Cabrito, Inosencia Molina Tamayo, and Basilia Sosa.
A celebration of Leonila’s life will be held at 10 AM, July 17th, 2022 at Forest Park – The Woodlands. The address is 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384. In lieu of flowers, please send a card to Lorna Unite, 8607 Sunset Pond Drive, Tomball, TX 77375 or care for a plant in her name.
