James A. McIver, age 75, went into the arms of his loving savior on Saturday August 15, 2020. Jim was survived by his wife Kay; daughters Michelle and Missy. Jim is also survived by his sister Carolyn; six grandchildren; one great-grand daughter; four nephews; and several cousins.
Jim was born and raised in Granbury, Texas on September 5th, 1944. His sister Mary and Carolyn followed a few years later. Jim loved camping, hunting and exploring the countryside of Hood County. His maternal grandparents lived nearby and had a big influence on his life. Jim spent many hours in conversation with his Grandfather Burt McDaniel. “Burt” as he was affectionally called taught Jim a lot about life while sharing words of wisdom.
As a young man at the age of 18 Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during The Vietnam War. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and was recognized as Airman of the month. His Major noted in an official report that he had a high degree of professionalism in his work and was reliable and honest. Repeated instructions were never necessary, and he was always eager to help others. These skills followed him all his life.
While working at Ft. Worth National Bank Jim met the love his life, Kay. On September 5th, 1969 they committed their lives together in marriage and have celebrated over 50 years together. Jim took on the responsibility of raising two little girls when he married Kay all at the young age of 25 and loved them as his own. Jim was a loving husband and father.
Jim worked at ExxonMobil for 43 years. He was well respected and loved by his co-workers through the years. He was a hard and diligent worker and took great pride in his work.
Jim served as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Garland, Lakeside Baptist in Dallas and The Woodlands First Baptist Church in The Woodlands. He worked with youth for over 30 years. He quietly served the Lord by touching lives one at a time and never seeking recognition.
The world will not be the same without Jim. We look forward to the day we reunite with our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
HIs funeral service will be held at The Woodlands First Baptist Church, 11801 Grogans Mill Road on Thursday, August 20 at 2PM. Burial will be private.
