Growing up, Felipe was very athletic, and loved to play sports, especially baseball. He was involved in Orwall Baseball, and played on 2 select teams. In Dallas, he pitched for Cedar Valley College.
He also loved martial arts, karate, and had recently gotten very good at Jiu Jitsu, earning his blue belt. Felipe and his dad loved to watch “Futbol Americano”, and would argue about which teams and players were going to do best each weekend.
Felipe had an artistic mind. He was very gifted when it came to drawing and painting. He was a wonderful writer and a deep thinker. He was incredibly spiritual and felt things on a higher level. Recently he had been studying the principles of Buddhism, and loved being kind and peaceful. Many people, especially children, were drawn to Felipe’s kind and gentle spirit.
He is survived by his parents, Maria and Larry Mathews; his grandmother, Felipa Boada; aunt, Mariela and uncle, Aissa Idriss, and a host of loving family and friends, who all touched Felipe’s life in a positive way.
