Elizabeth was the first in her family to attend college and graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. She also attended the University of New Hampshire several years later and graduated with a master’s degree in Mathematics.
Elizabeth had a calling to be a math teacher and taught high school and college math classes ranging from basic to advanced topics for 50 years. She had a lasting impact on the lives of countless young people through her teaching.
Elizabeth was a beautiful woman, and she was blessed with many creative talents including sewing, charcoal sketching, stained glass, architecture and design, cooking, and gardening. She was also blessed with intelligence, independence, perseverance, determination, and strength which allowed her to continually rise above her life circumstances. Elizabeth always knew how to have fun and her smile was infectious.
She had only one child whom she loved with all of her heart. Elizabeth made decisions throughout her life that always put her daughter and her entire family first above her own needs. She loved fully, selflessly, and completely.
Elizabeth also loved her pets, and they were her beloved companions. She often provided a home for animals in need, and she cared deeply about protecting them.
Elizabeth was the last surviving member of her family and is preceded in death by father R.A. Lowther Sr., mother Ethel Lowther, aunt Jeanette Lowther, older brother R.A. Lowther Jr. and younger brother Donald Lowther.
She is survived by daughter Tami Mallett, son-in-law Mark Mallett, grandson Matthew Mallett and his wife Sarah Mallett, and granddaughter Megan Roznovsky and her husband Christopher Roznovsky. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew.
A reception to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 3PM. Please wear navy blue to the reception to honor Elizabeth with her favorite color.
