He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gerry (Geraldine Bernhardt); children (Judith, Mary Ellen, Nancy and Edward) and their spouses; his grandchildren (Amanda, Alexandra, Sophia, Jonathan and Elena) and their spouses; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Ed was born August 23, 1931, to Andrew and Helen (Krol) Kulesza in Utica, New York. He is preceded in death by his sisters Genevieve and Veronica. He enlisted and served in the United States Navy from February 1951 – February 1955, serving on the USS Sabine. He married Gerry on February 1, 1964. Together they raised a family in Whitesboro, New York and he built a career as a machinist, retiring from Special Metals, Inc., in New Hartford, New York in 1997.
Along with being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman. With a gift for “enjoying the moment” he was kind and loving, sharing his love for the great outdoors with family and friends. He could see his Savior in the handiwork of Creation.
It is with sadness and thanksgiving that we say goodbye to this gentle man who richly blessed our lives.
