Albert Earl “Buddy” Scott, Jr., 67, of Trinity, Texas, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on November 8, 1948 to Albert and Mary Scott. Earl graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1966. He married Gayle Sue Settle on August 22, 1970 and she passed away January 28, 2004. In September 2006, he married Connie Keever and they were married 9 years.
Earl was known for his dedication and work ethic. He never skipped a day of school growing up, rarely took a day off of work, and seldom missed church on Sundays. Earl was a dedicated family man who lived to take care of his wife and sons. He rarely met a stranger and was always good for a laugh and a smile. As long as family and friends were around, Earl was happy.
Earl’s passion for cars came a close second to family. A handshake with Earl always included a little bit of motor grease. Earl’s fondest memories were made on the racetrack where he turned his passion into horsepower in his cherry red ’71 Chevelle.
Earl was a do-it-yourselfer who could fix anything. He could continually be found tinkering in the garage or working on home repairs. Earl was always willing to lend a helping hand and would never expect anything in return. Earl’s kind spirit and positive disposition will be greatly missed.
Earl is survived by his wife, Connie Keever Scott, son Cory Scott and fiancée Kim Cherry of Conroe, Todd Scott and wife Jamie of Bryan, and Trey Scott and wife Ashley of Houston, step-daughter Malinda Lowden and husband Shane of Trinity, grandchildren Adrian and Carly Scott, Shane Cherry, Chelsey Geiss and husband Chris, Cody, Courtney, and Logan, and great grandchildren Summer and Scarlett. Siblings John Scott of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marijo and Tom Bernard of Dallas, Texas and numerous friends he considered family.
Earl is predeceased in death by his first wife, Gayle Sue Scott, and parents Albert and Mary Scott.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands on Friday, February 19th from 6pm-8pm with funeral services Saturday at Forest Park on February 20th at 10 am. Interment to immediately follow.
